How to become a verifier

Verifiers on iRecord are set up by agreement with relevant national recording schemes and societies (including county recorders for those schemes/societies), or for particular recording projects. Some recording schemes and societies have an extremely well developed network of verifiers, and produce their own guidance to support the process, whilst others currently have few verifiers and no specific guidance, for a wide range of reasons.

Contact us on iRecord@ceh.ac.uk to let us know which species groups and which geographic area you would like to cover, and which recording scheme or project you are associated with. We will liaise with relevant National Recording Schemes and survey coordinators to establish this role.

Once you have been set up as a verifier you will see the additional ‘Verify’ menu at the top of the iRecord pages. You will need to be logged in to carry out any of the activities described in the guidance for verifiers.
