Editing records

Submitted by Major Bombylius on

When viewing records in "list view" (Explore my records) there is usually an option to click on to edit the record (rather than just view it). But for about half my records this option (button) is not showing, so I can't edit the record in any way. This is for a variety of taxa (possibly more typical for less well recorded taxa). Is this a glitch? Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Duplicate records

Submitted by Duncan Cooke on

When I submit a record, I will sometimes look to see how many records have been submitted of that species and have noticed a number of duplicate/identical records. For example, today I submitted a record of Crataerina hirundinis and when I looked at ''Accepted as correct records only'' it is showing 25 records, but two records appear to be duplicated, showing the same dates and photos. I have also noticed on occasions that some people are using the same photos for different records.

Errors in verified records

Submitted by Birdlady238@gm… on

Hi, has anyone had notification of verified records with errors in them? I recently had a record marked as incorrect. The image attached and the original record I posted as a Small Blue butterfly (which was correct). The record was rejected with text stating that the butterfly was not a Small Heath but probably a Speckled Wood. I received two notifications for the same record too, one marked as accepted even though it had a comment against it that said it had been misidentified, all a bit of a muddle really.

Dashboard

Clicking on a point on the Dashboard doesn't seem to  bring up the records for the week in question. e.g. I click on 3 weeks ago and it lists records from August.

"grid outside modern Range"

Submitted by Maxrichens on

Hi,

I'm not sure how to address the matter in the subject line.

I have been seeing various crab spiders (misumena vatia I believe) in and around my garden in the past couple of years. My neighbour, who is an ecologist, has also seen them around over a longer period ( he's much more observant than I am)

So, How does an item with that description progress beyond the " grid outside modern range" response?

ptThanks

Max

Historic data

Submitted by nickebarber on

I have always assumed that historic data is a valuable addition to iRecord.  There is a wealth of data stored in notebooks, file cards and photographs created before the advent of iRecord and other recording platforms which can help illuminate changes in species distribution and populations.  It also gives those now unable to get out into the field as much as in previous years the opportunity to be involved in this exciting project and feel that they are adding to the sum of human knowledge.  I am currently entering data from my late mother's notebooks dating from the 1970s t
