Is TikTok Helping or Hurting Wildlife Awareness?

Submitted by avasinclair on

Hi everyone,

I’ve come across quite a few nature-related videos on TikTok recently — people filming rare birds, insects, or fungi, sometimes even sharing quick ID tips or “cool facts” about species. Some are genuinely interesting, but others seem more focused on going viral than sharing accurate info.

Classic Waffles Anytime – Check Out the Menu

There’s something comforting about a plate of freshly made classic waffles. Warm, golden, and perfectly crisp on the outside with a soft and fluffy center, this timeless breakfast favorite never goes out of style. Whether you’re an early riser or someone who enjoys breakfast at night, classic waffles are always a satisfying choice.

iRecord is a UK-based platform that allows individuals and groups to record observations of wildlife, contributing to national biodiversity data. It supports citizen science by letting users submit species records, complete with location, date, and photos. These records are verified by experts and used by researchers, conservation organizations, and local environmental groups.

Activities - editing boundaries and excluding unwanted records

I am setting up an activity (MoSR) which is a ribbon-like area (a heritage railway). The site is, unhelpfully near the meeting of four 10km squares and the area includes small parts of each. Because of the narrowness of the area in relation to its length it was not possible to draw the outline precisely enough on a single screen so I had to mark part, move the map along and continue marking the next section. Alas in two or three places the mouse clicks were not of the right sort and my ribbon now has some triangular bulges. I have tried to edit these but with no success whatsoever.

What Are the Best iPhone Apps for Nature Recording and Wildlife Observation?

Submitted by avasinclair on

Hi everyone,

I’m curious to know what apps you all use on your iPhone for recording nature and observing wildlife. There seem to be so many out there, from audio recording tools to species identification apps, and I’d love to hear your recommendations.

What’s your go-to app for recording bird songs, identifying plants, or tracking wildlife sightings? Are there any hidden gems that you think more people should know about?
