Termlists for importing records

This page provides information about the terms that can be used when importing records from a spreadsheet into iRecord.

For some types of data, the values in your spreadsheet have to match the values that iRecord is expecting. For instance, the species names can be scientific or English names, but they have to match the names that iRecord uses, which are taken from the UK Species Inventory.

A number of other fields have to match a predefined set of terms, and these are listed below. 

Terms for Stage

This field is required, so that your spreadsheet must have a column for Stage, and every row in your spreadsheet of records must include a term for Stage. The term can be given as "Not recorded", but it cannot be left blank. The full list of terms that can be used is:

This allows a recording method to be imported, but note that an alternative is to use "Method (free text)", which can accept any text. Observation Type is optional, but available with these terms:

This termlist is based on the BTO codes for breeding evidence, and is only intended for use with bird records. It is optional, and the terms are:

These are only required if importing date ranges. Date ranges require three columns in the spreadsheet: date start (dd/mm/yyyy format); date end (dd/mm/yyyy format); and date type, using the terms below:
