I'm trying to do something I thought would be simple. I wan to view all records on the map so I can see where in my general locality there might be areas where no-one is recording, which might be interesting to visit and do some recording. Apart from the fact that the map is excruciatingly slow to load and the detail keeps vanishing when I zoom in and out, it's virtually impossible to do what I want to do as there are a few records where someoone who does not know how to use the national grid system has recorded something in a whole km square, or in one case a 10 km square! As you zoom in, this area suddenly appears solid blue on the map, covering everything else and seem to be impossible to get rid of.
Is there a way of getting these records (which can't surely be that useful - I mean a report of a plant in a 10km square!) excluded from the map somehow so it actually becomes useable?

Thanks but 10km!
Thanks and I will try that. I do understand the need for sensitivity on recording but a 10km square across a chunk of Gloucestershire when the recorder then gives the location as Cirencester Park is clearly a mistake.
10k records
Check the source of the record, it sounds like it is from iNaturalist which sometimes gives these vague grid refs despite an apparently specific place name. If you have the patience, following the iNat link will give you a map with a pin locating the record, but some of these are locationally vague.
Two figure grid refs...
There is one record for a "sensitive" species which is recorded with a TWO figure grid reference, pasting it across the whole of east and west Gloucestershire! I don't want to follow the link to find the location for this record (especially as its a species I have in my own garden!), I just want the huge blue rectangle out of the way when I try to zoom in on the map. It really is virtually unusable in this way I'm afraid which is a great shame.
Alternative maps
I sympathise, especially as the splurge of colour is too opaque and can't be adjusted.
If your records reach NBN Atlas their spatial tools are somewhat better, though this isn't much help if you're looking for very recent records.
Some of the vague grid references could be deliberate as the recorder regards the location as confidential, either in the interests of a sensitive species or for their own privacy.
An activity created to bring together all of the records for your defined area would give you the information you seek.
