I removed a notification without thinking and now I cannot figure out what record it referred to. Is there any way of tracking the record down other than going back through all my records?

If the notification related to a comment added to your record then if you go to Explore/My Records https://irecord.org.uk/my-records you can filter 'Records to include' by 'Queried records only', it should then be much easier to locate the record in question. If the notification related to an auto-response to a automatic record-cleaner rule then this wouldn't be picked up here, though you are less likely to be interested in such notifications.
