Stopping a generalised 10km square observation blocking out the map at certain zoom levels?

Submitted by Malcolm MacGarvin on

An observer has recorded a golden eagle, but (not unreasonably) generalised the location to a 10km square. Unfortunately at some higher zoom levels the record displays as solid blue and blocks out large areas of the map.

Any solutions that can be applied by the end user?

I would provide a screenshot but don't have there permission. It's observation 13285299 for OS grid square NJ12. The problem occurs when the zoom level means that the vertical display is 5km (I think!). It sometimes disappears if you move the map centre or becomes transparent, but I've not worked out how to control this, and it shouldn't happen anyway!

Current filter setting allow us to include groups or individual species.  We need to add a negative filter capacity that can, e.g,  eliminate all Accipitridae, the big raptors that cause most of the problems.  It isn't just birds.  It would be much easier checking ladybird records if we could eliminate Harlequin and 7-Spot..
