Submitted by G Hogg on

trying to check for any new Ivy Mining Bee records in Scotland . I am only aware of records from Lauriston and Thorntonloch . Is that still the case ? How do you search for Scottish records only ?

In this instance, since it's such a rare species, a search of all records would be good enough. Just search all records for Colletes hederae and then zoom the map into Scotland. There are only three locations for all the sightings, clicking on each one gives all the records for that location. Alternatively you could select all records then create a custom filter by drawing around Scotland on the map using the polygon tool.

Assuming you are using the iRecord website, you could try creating a filter in 'Explore All Records' by drawing a boundary.  Go to 'Explore All Records'.  Filter for Colletes Hederae in the species box below the map. Then click on 'Create a filter', choose the 'Where' option, and on the map that comes up you can select the polygon function which allows you to manually draw a boundary.  Then don't forget to click the 'Apply' button.

In answer to your question, there is another record at Aberdour Harbour on the other side of the Firth of Forth, directly north of Lauriston.
