Handy tool for understanding vice-county boundaries
This website may help you to discover your location relative to the vice-comital system: https://www.cucaera.co.uk/grp/
A lot of biological recording uses the units of vice counties (see https://www.brc.ac.uk/article/british-vice-counties for more information about what these are). The idea is that over time our administrative county boundaries change, whereas these vice counties are fixed so allow better comparison over time. So for you, you will need to work out if you are in East Gloucestershire (VC33) or West Gloucestershire (VC34). It doesn't make any difference as far as where you can record, it just shows you some records from close to where you are based when you sign in.
