Bush-crickets in garden

Submitted by JJd3 on

Hello

How do I log a resident female Speckled Bush-cricket + attendant + visiting males whilst she came up to sit in her throne of dar red Hydrangea, for 18 days?  We visited her with our cameras, morning & afternoon when we were available.

Set up an account, find 'Enter a Casual Record' and just fill in the details.  To handle the 18 day period, you need to set up you account to "allow the entry of vague dates".  That means things like "18/04/2021-27/04/2021"

You can add a few pictures and as much detail as needed to convince a verifier that your bush-cricket is what you say it is.  And be prepared to wait for maybe months before it is verified.

Thanks for your kind response Gustav.  My orthoptera for 2020 were never verified but our local patch has allowed a regular survey in 2021.  I don't know if our local passion would be meaningful to any-one other than us.  We will continue to seek out local bush-crickets in 2022 as our county is not well represented on maps.  Dark Bush-crickets are the most abundant here.

Thanks again, JJ3
