Option to edit records not available

New to iRecord, so not sure if it's something I've done, but when looking at the 'How to...' page for editing a record, I'm missing the option. Trying to edit a record via 'Explore > My Records' and I only have options to View Details and View Species Details. I also have no option to edit a record via the 'View Details' option.

Hi,
Are you sure you did not click on Explore/All records instead?
When you go to Explore/My records you will have access to all the records you entered in iRecord. Each record entered has in the right side three small website icons that lead to other three different windows. The first icon gives you access to: 'View record details', the second one gives you access to: 'View species details' and a third icon, called "edit this record" in the one you should click to change your record. 
After making those changes you need to save it and wait a few minutes to see the changes made in the iRecord webpage.

However, if you still experience difficulty editing a record you there is an alternative way to edit a record described in help/Record: Edit or delete a record.

I am currently unable to upload photos. Also I regularly get a message about being unable to contact the server. Is this a general issue, or a problem specific to myself?

I do not think this is common. It looks like your photos are too big to upload. Try to reduce the size of your photos first using a Windows or Mac software to edit images and after that try to upload again the photos in iRecord. Best wishes. Cristiane
