Is it possible to add a new species to irecord? Could add the records via BAS but use this app and prefer to keep things in one place. It's for records of Helpis occidentalis at various locations in S.Wales and Bristol.

The short answer is that iRecord doesn't have it's own separate species list to add directly too, instead it uses the UK Species Inventory (UKSI) as an official list of British species, so the best thing to do would be to contact Chris Raper who maintains the list to get it added. There will then be a bit of a lag until the update reaches iRecord, but it will get there eventually.
