I've just used the "all" button to verify what I thought were all the iNaturalist with Photo submissions for Empididae and Brachystomatidae, that were visible on the screen. It turns out this was not so and ALL means every remaining unverified submission. Is it possible to get these back as pending? There were over 200 submissions I think.
It's difficult to work out what the point of the select ALL option is if that's what it does?
Anway, apologies for my error. What's worse is I think I have done it before.
Hi Nigel, I'll reply by email to check with you what needs to be done with the set of records that got included by mistake.
For reference in case anyone else needs to know, if you are using your verification page in bulk verify mode, the "All" button will apply your verification decision to all records that match any current filters, across ALL pages of the record grid. It's probably not something that should be done for records with photos, but for non-photo records it can be useful, e.g. I sometimes use it to accept all records of a common moth from an experienced recorder, as long as they pass the record cleaner rules. But I would recommend always filtering your records carefully first. When you use the verification buttons in bulk mode, it always tells you how many records the decision is being applied to, and if that number looks too large it's best to cancel the verification decision and check the filtering.
Further information is in section 9.2, page 17, of the verifiers guidance.
