Hoverfly accepted as different species on email

Submitted by howardtaffs201… on

I submitted a Crysotoxum hoverfly as elegans yesterday. On iRecord app it was marked as accepted as correct as this species, a few hours later.

In the email, however today,  it is recorded as submitted and accepted as verralli.

Which do I believe please ?

Sometimes there does seem to be a bit of confusion where a species has its ID changed, so if in doubt it is worth logging in to the main site (i.e. via a web browser) and checking the record there. In particular look for the determiner field, because if it was originally you but is now different then that shows that the ID has been changed. In this instance I've had a look and when verifying it, Roger Morris has re-determined the ID as Chrysotoxum veralli, so that is what it has been accepted as.

Hi Howard

I've looked at your record  -- on the desktop site -- and the verifier (a renowned expert) has redetermined your identification from elegans to verralli. Your images are high quality so if you think this is a mistake you could raise it with the verifier by adding a comment to the record however it's very unlikely the verifier is wrong since the images are so detailed.

Cheers, Mesh
