Uploading not happening from app

Records stopped uploading a while ago, but I didn't realise for some time.  The last one that was uploaded was on 24/4/22.  

I have 400 uploaded records listed on the app - maybe I need to delete them, but I'm wary of deleting the wrong ones by mistake - deleting them one by one will take a while.  Maybe I need to use 'delete all saved' but I'm not sure whether that will also delete the ones that haven't uploaded yet, as it isn't quite clear what 'saved' means.  I also have 164 'pending' records.  Just 13 are from before 24/4/22 (kept to check details before uploading, or to record via other routes).

 

3. Expected behavior 

Expected records to upload when I click 'upload' but nothing happens.

Steps to reproduce the behavior.

1. Click on 'upload'

2. Nothing happens, record stays in 'pending'.

5. App Version

You can find this information by going to the app settings or menu pages in the app and scrolling to the bottom of the page.

7. When did this happen

If you can provide the time of the day this issue has happened then we can look into our server logs to find anything related to your case.

I was about to post a new issue but mine is identical to that as described by pieris above. I had previously had this issue but assumed it was because i had not used the app for a while so i uninstalled then re-installed it. However, the issue persists (my details, slight differences on version and OS from above).;

2. Describe the issue *
As above (8 records). Records have been added but will not upload all are complete and otherwise 'good' so far as i can tell. All records include a completed location, date and have a photo (bar 1). I have accessed settings and tried "Submit All". Records remain marked as 'Pending'.

3. Expected behavior 
Records to be uploaded to my iRecord account.

4. To Reproduce
Add a record (complete form as normal) add photo. Click "Submit All".

5. App Version
5.4.4

6. Device
Android 11 (realme X50)

7. When did this happen
Not sure, as above it had happened previously then i reinstalled around a month ago. The latest attempt to add a record was this weekend 02/07/2022


8. Additional context

I wondered if this was related to an attempt to edit and then delete a record which appeared to fail at the time. Though that record does no longer appear on the app.

I am using Nord VPN on my phone, could this impact the uploads?

Back to try again.

Manually deleted about half of the uploaded records, but that didn't help.

Used "delete all saved" (which actually means "delete all uploaded"), leaving 158 Pending records back to 29/4/22 (I'd perhaps unwisely gone on adding records while on holiday).  Tried uploading one labelled 'Draft' - the word 'Draft' disappeared, but the record didn't otherwise change, did not move to 'Uploaded' and didn't appear on the website.

Signed out (unticked 'discard local data')

Tried to sign in again:

I get a red bar saying "Sorry - Load failed"  

Ugh.  

Closed all apps on my phone, and re-opened iRecord - all Pending records are visible, but it says I need to sign in to upload them.  Tried to sign in.  Same "Sorry - Load failed" message.  

Maybe a password error.  Tried to reset password. "Sorry - Load failed"...

I have double-checked (via the website) that I am using the right email address.

All I can think of now is to manually copy all the records onto paper (158 of them) and reinstall the app?

Just checked by logging out of the website (on my desktop) and back in, and my password works fine on here.  

It looks as though it is a problem specific to the app, but now I have logged out on my phone, I can't get back in (although I can see all the details of the data).

Uploaded all 160 records manually onto the website (clustering them into broader grid refs - it still took several hours) and then deleted them from the app. Still wouldn't let me log in on the 5.4.1 app, even when it was empty of records.  Deleted the app.  Downloaded updated version 5.4.4.  Now able to log in and upload records again.

Sorry to hear you had to upload the records manually! 😧 And thanks for the write-up of the issue. We'll keep an eye out if this happens again to other users.

We are upgrading the iRecord App this Autumn to fix some of the legacy and other issues and upgrade its core codebase. It will be more stable and user-friendly, focusing on better-informing users in case something goes wrong in the app.

Same problem as pieris outlines.  Basically syncing doesn't work even if my iRecord account is open on my laptop.  Sitting here following the instructions to sync phone with account on laptop is ineffective.  Records still show 'pending'.

Cannot  upload records from phone to account on laptop.  I have included a frequency for each entry.  Have just done new password and some records then uploaded successfully, but I have 12 still stuck on 'pending'.
