Dear all,
Not a technical issue, so no technical data supplied. Just that I would like to submit hoverfly records by genus rather than species (as I am unqualified to take most observations to species level). An example is the genus, Syrphus. It is available as an ID option on the website, but the app does not recognise it and instead will not let me proceed without a species name. I am sure the expert assessor is getting tired of redermining all my observations to "Syrphus". It would be much simpler if I could do this at the point of submission.
Thanks in anticipation
Stuart Milligan
Hi Stuart, the "casual" species entry form on the iRecord app does permit genus level names. I have just tried and Syrphus is available -- perhaps you have set your "filter" (top right) to Common names only? If you change to "Default" then both scientific and common names will be available. If you are referring to a different way of entering data through the app, please advise.
