Status of species groups app?

Submitted by grmanners on

Not really sure where to post this...

I have been experiencing a lot of trouble with the species group specific apps on my iPhone. Latest is that iRecordGrasshoppers now refuses to let me log in despite working otherwise (so I cannot submit records).

Previous and arguably most annoying one is Dragonflies app, which was super-useful for field checks of tricky species. It still works a treat on my very old iPad, but redirects to iRecord and fails on my iPhone 6S.

Any suggestions or advice?

Thanks

Hi, thanks for the question. It is useful to know that you've found these apps useful. Like you've said both of these apps aren't working well at the moment.

Due to lack of interest/support the dragonflies one has been discontinued for a few years now and isn't available anymore. There are no plans to revive it yet.

The grasshoppers one has a broken user authentication system but this Autumn/Winter we are planning to completely upgrade this app so that it will be on par with the iRecord Butterflies one.

Thank you, karolis.

It is a real shame about the Dragonflies app, as all the apps are useful tools in the field.

Made the mistake of signing out of iRecordGrasshoppers today and now cannot sign back in :(

I should like to revive this thread: it is now summer 2023 and again I cannot sign into iRecordGrasshoppers app. Apparently, I have version 2.1.4 (215); do I need to update or something? Thanks
