Hi, I've got the new version of the app on my Android phone, and it took me a long time to figure out how to do the locking of attributes before I just figured it out. Not sure how many people will be able to find this functionality without more signposting. Loving the back button working now!

In short, the image identification service is a combination of waarneming.nl and plantnet.org (coming soon) models that process your pictures and return UKSI species suggestions 🙂

At first sight the image ID is no more impressive than i expected it to be. I will leave it turned on for testing purposes, but i suspect it will increase the workload of us verifiers .

It really needs a clearly displayed disclaimer every time it is used.

I also cannot see a way to create a new record from an image from the gallery on my phone, rather than via the camera. That means i cannot use my phone's excellent macro function to create a record, but am forced to use its decidedly dodgy main camera and then replace the photo.

Most of the rest of the changes to the app look great though. I like the map functionality, though i would be happier if it could show all my records, rather than just the few hundred I have recorded since I got my current phone.

I will explore more and report back.

Ah - so attribute locking is still an available feature - I haven't found it yet, and typing the names of sites is a pain, when the commonest one comes up at the bottom of the list. I'll try again to find how to do it. (I assumed it had been removed as people were using it and putting wrong names in by mistake.)  I'm finding the AI checking is often very helpful, though yes, it is tempting to record things that I'm not really sure enough of.  It has occasionally given some weird suggestions.

I have just looked in the Help section and found how to lock the place name (and remembered I'd found it before) - I had been trying to swipe left on the page where you enter the place name (which seemed more intuitive), not on the front listing (where the  heading 'Location' is, and because nothing happened, decided the option had disappeared.

That's an interesting observation. I'll have this in mind when working on the next app updates. Thanks
