I'm new to the site & not an expert naturalist. I was looking forward to posting sightings in the hope of making a very small contribution to knowledge & protection. The recording site is on the whole simple but unclear to me. I entered tipula luna under species - rejected; tried crane fly tipula luna - rejected. What was I supposed to put?
When I do it I get a drop down list of suggestions after the first three letters, eventually Tipula luna appears. You must select the name from that drop down list, even if it is the only one offered. It is at this stage that the name is verified.
I can't see any other ways to get it wrong. Case doesn't matter, neither do additional spaces. It worked with both the mobile and computer interface.
