How do I add a record for a species of beetle not officially on the current British list ?

I recently found some specimens of the bark beetle Gnathotrichus materiarus (Fitch, 1858) (Scolytinae), which I do not think has yet been formally added to the British list.  They were found on cut timber in the New Forest, at a site several miles from where this species was first identified as an accidental introduction from North America from specimens collected in 2014 and 2015 (Inward, 2020; Journal of Pest Science).  

However, when I have tried to upload a record for this species, I only get the error message 'The value you have entered has not been recognised' - presumably because the species is not on the British list.  Is there a way around this ?

Hi Mike,

Thank you for reporting this. iRecord uses the UK Species Inventory - I've contacted Chris Raper in order for this species to be added. Once this has occurred it will feed through to iRecord on the next update and be available for recording.

I've just heard back from Chris that this species is already available as Gnathotrichus materiarius. I've checked and this is available on iRecord as well.
