Could someone please offer me some guidance on how best to complete the "Habitat" section.
I'm a keen recorder and would like to add Habitat information that is of use to researchers but as a non professional I never quite know what to select.
Typically I'm on "nature reserves" in urban areas, so I'd have patches of woodland, patches of grassland, and areas of what might be called "scrub" with gorse etc.
many of my "finds" are in the habitat margins, for example where a small patch of woodland meets an area of grassland. I'd like to enter "woodland margin" or "woodland clearing" as "woodland" wouldn't be right and "grassland" wouldn't be right.
Often I just leave this section blank as I'm not sure how to describe the habitat, but that seems like useful data is being lost.
Hope you can offer some advice - or point to a useful guide.
Many Thanks

habitat
If the main habitat is woodland then use this, woodland does not mean unbroken tree cover (although it can), well managed woodlands have a lot of open space including grassy glades and rides, temporary clearings created by coppicing and clearfell areas so although tree cover is the dominant habitat many other habitats can be present increasing biodiversity enormously.

Hi Mark, which data entry page or form are you typically using?
