converting iRecord plant species names to BSBI names (UK species inventory to Stace 4)

Submitted by juliawilson on

My understanding is that iRecord uses the UK species inventory list, while the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland uses Stace 4.

Many of the species names are the same, however occasionally they are not (e.g. iRecord uses Phyllitis scolopendrium for Hart's Tongue Fern, whereas BSBI uses Asplenium scolopendrium).

I need to convert iRecord data to BSBI/Stace 4

There must be a way of checking and converting.

Can anyone suggest how?

thank you

Hi Julia

We are hoping to update to the latest version of the UKSI (which has been harmonised with the BSBI dictionary recently) very soon. In the meantime you could use a conversion tool such as that maintained by the BSBI: https://database.bsbi.org/taxonnameparser.php

Cheers
