Historic Data

Submitted by LundyFieldSociety on

I have been entering historic data ie pre 1970s via the import spreadsheet option.

All is ok with dates after c1970s, but earlier than that I get an error saying the date is in the future.

I get around this by inputting dates by hand.

Is this a known problem and is there another solution?

Further to the above.  This is inconsistent.  I have just entered records of two species.  One accepted all the dates, the other - in the same spreadsheet refused all dates from 1948 up to 1963.  The error message is "Please specify a date that is not in the  future" which it obviously isn't.

Can someon please look at this?

I wonder if this is a Unix thing.  I think in some Unix systems 1/1/1970 is 'day 1' and there is no time before that by default.

I've not encountered this sort of problem with dates myself. Please can you send an example of your data to irecord@ceh.ac.uk and we can investigate.
