Hi just migrated all of my MapMate records for 2024 into iRecord and found that currently there is no method for "attracted to pheromone lure / trap" for Lepidoptera.
Is this easy to add into the system? Also virtually all of my leaf mine records have been queried as the date is outside the normal flight time! Yes correct as it is an early stage that has been recorded. I assume this is a regular bug to allow checking of such records?

Method (free text)
There is a field called 'Method (free text)' on iRecord which can hold whatever description you want, think that is what a lot of moth recorders use when inputting data. But I agree it would be good if pheromone lure / trap was added to the controlled termlist method field as well.
Currently the date alerts don't take into account stage and flag up if it is out of the flight period for an adult. A bit annoying for other stage records as you note. I believe they are working on a fix for this (not sure whether it is to code date ranges for each stage or just make it not apply the rules to non-adult records) but I don't know if this will happen soon. So for now I think we just have to put up with the irritation.
Hi
Regarding flight times, I'm pretty sure it's a known issue. I've recorded a couple of caterpillars (record 28367629 for example) and got the automated message "Date is outside known flight period of Phragmatobia fuliginosa (Ruby Tiger)". I vaguely remember searching the site at the time and discovering it was a bug they were well aware of but can't remember where I saw that info I'm afraid. It seems the system doesn't differentiate between the various life stages of a species; the automated sense check is based on the adult form so I wouldn't worry about that. I also wouldn't expect it to be fixed any time soon as I suspect it's quite a small team who administer this site.
